US President Joe Biden has called for tax cuts to support wind and solar in his 2022 State of the Union Address. He also announced a goal to double clean energy production in these areas.
Biden (pictured) said: "Let's provide investments and tax credits to weatherize your homes and businesses to be energy efficient and you get a tax credit; double America's clean energy production in solar, wind, and so much more; lower the price of electric vehicles, saving you another 80 (€72) a month because you'll never have to pay at the gas pump again." American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) president and chief executive of the Gregory Wetstone welcomed the move.
Wetstone said: "I am encouraged by President Biden's renewed push for historic investments in clean energy, including tax incentives to accelerate the deployment of solar and wind power, during tonight's State of the Union address.
"The president's energy proposals will save American families an average of 500 a year, offering an important reminder that addressing the climate crisis is both good for our planet and good for our economy.
"Working with congressional leaders, President Biden also proposed transformational investments in domestic manufacturing to strengthen and onshore our clean energy supply chain.
"ACORE and its members stand ready to work with the Biden Administration and Congressional leaders to realize the bold vision for a renewable energy future outlined in tonight's address."
